Tales of the Thousand Lamps: MORANA's Arabian and Persian world
Tales of the Thousand Lamps is the seventh world of MORANA's saga, the Arabian and Persian realm of jinn, lamps, and the great tale-cycles, where the same cracked wheel is met by a people whose stories run on wishes, and where every wish is ranked and set out in the open for both players to read. It is the world of the lamp and the granted, and dangerous, desire.
The world and its stories
This is the country of One Thousand and One Nights and the Persian Shahnameh: Scheherazade spinning a tale each night to outlast the dawn, the jinn bound in the lamp, the wish that always costs more than it seems, and the heroes and simurghs of the Persian epic. It is a tradition of nested storytelling and of bargains with unseen powers, where a tale can hold off death and a wish can undo a life.
Its place in the saga
By the seventh world, the Turning has reached the deserts and courts of the Arabian and Persian tale-cycles, and this people meet the returning dead as they meet all great powers: as something to be bargained with, wished upon, and never fully trusted. Where the Celtic world hides its truths, this world lays its wishes out in ranks for all to see. It is the saga's chapter of desire and its price, the story of powers granted in the open and paid for in the dark.
The signature: Wishcraft
The seventh world's signature idea is a per-player ladder of escalating, public power. Instead of one shared clock, each player climbs their own ranked track of wishes, each rank's reward printed and known, advancing on the open death-triggers of the game. It is the three-wishes motif made mechanical, and it adds a new public thing to read: not just the Open Grave, but your opponent's rising ladder of granted desires.
