Play a Free Online Card Game in Your Browser

No download. No signup. No cost. Open one page and you are in a duel: a short, tense Slavic folk-horror card game you can learn in a couple of minutes and lose an evening to.

If you searched for a free online card game, a browser card game, or a card game with no download, most trails lead to storefronts, launchers, and sign-up walls. MORANA: The Open Grave is the opposite of that friction. It is a complete trading card game that runs in your browser, free, and it starts the moment the page loads. This is the full game against a thinking opponent, not a locked teaser that asks for your email before the good part.

No download, no signup, no cost

Three kinds of friction usually stand between you and a new card game: an install, an account, and a price. MORANA removes all three.

The quickest way to know whether a card game is for you is to play one game of it. MORANA is built so that takes about two minutes, from a cold open to your first won Site.

You are playing the whole game, not a demo

Plenty of free browser games are a thin slice designed to sell you the rest. The MORANA duel runs the complete First Turning ruleset: all four turn phases, the full set of Spirits, Sites, and Charms, and the one mechanic the whole game turns on. You commit a single move face-down each turn while your opponent does the same, then you both reveal at once and see who read whom. That hidden-commit tension is the real game, and you get all of it for free.

Your opponent is a bluffing computer Warden that plays to win, so a match is a genuine test, not a scripted walkthrough. Study every card in the Grimoire if you want to look under the hood first.

A two-minute turn you learn by playing

You do not need to read a rulebook to start. The turn is four clean steps, and the game teaches them as you go:

  1. Dawn. You get Embers to spend. On turn N you have exactly N, and none carry over, so the pace is built in.
  2. Commit. The one hidden move: you place a card face-down at one of three Sites, at the same time as your opponent.
  3. Dusk. Everything flips. Sites resolve left to right, and whoever has strictly more Power holds the Site.
  4. Rite. Fallen Spirits cross into Nav, the world of the dead, where they can return stronger. Slava is tallied toward the win.

The deepest twist, the Turning, is easy to feel the first time it happens: a Spirit you lose does not leave the game, it crosses over face-up and can be Reborn. Full rules live on the How to Play page, and the Strategy guide is where the mind games begin.

Why it is a good free game

  • Opens instantly, no install or account
  • The full ruleset, not a locked slice
  • A real opponent that bluffs and plays to win
  • Short games, so one sitting is a whole match
  • Free with no ads and nothing to buy to win

Why it stays interesting

  • Almost nothing is hidden, so wins are earned, not drawn
  • The Turning brings your dead back stranger than they fell
  • A built-in comeback keeps games close to the last turn
  • A moody Slavic folk-horror world to fall into
  • An optional rank ladder if you want to climb

Play it on any device

The duel is built to fit a single screen, so it works on a desktop, a laptop, or a phone in the browser. There is no separate mobile app to find. The same free game runs everywhere, which makes it easy to open on a break, on the couch, or across a table by passing a screen back and forth.

Free, and honest about why

Here is the whole arrangement, with no catch. The browser game is free because it is the front door to a physical card game we are bringing to a crowdfunding campaign. Playing free is how we would rather earn your interest: not with ads or randomized packs, but by letting the game speak for itself. If you like it, you can join the Founders' List for the tabletop set. If you do not, you played a good game for free and owe us nothing.

That honesty runs through the whole design. MORANA has no blind packs and no gambling anywhere. The planned physical set uses fixed distribution, so every box holds every card and no one buys boosters to keep up. You always know exactly what you are buying, and the free game asks for nothing.

The world you are dueling in

MORANA is themed on Slavic folklore and old public-domain fairy tales: the winter goddess of death, the deathless sorcerer whose life is hidden in an egg, the drowned maiden of the river, the household spirits that keep a home. They are retold in our own words across three realms, the living world, the world of the dead, and the world of fate. If the atmosphere pulls you in, read the folklore behind every card on the Old Faith page.
